Welcome Students!
In collaboration with Quark, X-Ray Magazine is providing you these quick-start templates to help you get up and running with QuarkXPress 8 in a snap!
In 1992, I wrote the book titled, QuarkXPress: Making the Most of Your Negative Experiences. That book was actually a series of templates and step-by-step instructions on how to create QuarkXPress documents that could be printed directly to negatives. Okay, those are days long since gone, but the lessons there are still valid today when you print to your desktop output device.
Many of these templates include crop marks so that you can create art and designs that bleed off the edge. Some are layouts appropriate for output directly to stock paper and labels available at your local office supply store.
Purchase QuarkXPress 8 at the educational pricing (contact Chris Edwards) and you can get my new book on QuarkXPress at 40% off. Once you purchase QuarkXPress, Chris will set you up with a discount code so that you, your classmates, your instructor, and your institution can all benefit from this great discount.
If you would like to download all tempates at once, click here to subscribe to X-Ray Magazine's online story notices and as a special thank you, we will send you a link to the entire template collection.
If you're just getting started with QuarkXPress 8, be sure to check out our story: QuarkXPress 8: a Suite Response.
Letterhead, Envelope, and Business Card with Shared Content and Composition Zones This template group is a single project that includes a letterhead, #10 envelope, 4-up business card with no bleed, and a 4-up business card with bleed. Bleed is any image or text that runs off the edge of the printed piece. Generally when you create a bleed in QuarkXPress 8, you will extended the item by about 1/8", or 9 points. Using the guides feature of QuarkXPress 8, you can place bleed guides at the desired measurement by choosing bleed and safety guides from the guides palette's fly-out menu. The best feature of this group is that it uses shared content and composition zones to ensure continuity throughout the project. |

CD DVD Jewell Case This template is another great lesson in the use of shared content. Using a third layout, you can fill in the text boxes with the required information and the information will be populated throughout the project. |
