X-Ray Magazine v5n1 My 7 Favorite XTensions for QuarkXPress 7 DocuSlim EV Download DemoDocuSlim EV is not just a production tool invaluable for archiving our catalogues, but also for when we send out our marketing pieces. Imagine being able to email a file instead of burning a CD, just because you ran it past an XTensions module. DocuSlim EV is designed to trim unnecessary data from a file. This is achieved by processing images within a QuarkXPress project — globally or individually — by cropping excess image material (with specified bleed), resizing, and re-importing images at 100%. DocuSlim EV will also resample to a target resolution, convert RGB to CMYK, and turn on LZW compression.

Figure 6 DocuSlim will reduce the file size based on the settings that you choose in the main dialogue box. Starting in the processing pane, you can downsize the resolution and crop excess images, among other general settings.

All of the image processing is done automatically in Photoshop and new versions of the pictures are then re-imported to the correct picture box with the appropriately accommodated offset, even though they might have been cropped.
