Options
While generally considered bad form, you do have the option here of setting your bullets and numbers to bold. When selected, it's a pseudo bold and the same effect as clicking the B in the measurements palette. I recommend against this because your output provider will object — instead use a style sheet to set the proper bold version of the font.
The hang indents option uses a special QuarkXPress character titled indent here. You can see this character below in figure 9. It is the vertical, dashed line directly before the first character of the list text. This character will force multi-line entries to align on the indent here character instead of aligning under the bullet.

Figure 11 In QuarkXPress 7, the indent here character is displayed as a dashed vertical line. Notice that the paragraph text aligns to the place where this character is inserted. In the last paragraph, there is no indent here character, so the text aligns to the left margin, as does the bullet.
The auto indent option causes any bullet or number to move one level to the right upon formatting. If you choose not to use this option ordered levels will be calculated from the far left of zero indent, instead of the first indent.
Removing bullets and numbering
The most difficult lesson for me to learn when using this product was that I needed to leave the removal to the XTensions module as well. When creating my first few lists, I kept using the undo command when I got unexpected results. Unfortunately, the lists are created by apply single-function formatting to one line at a time. The undo command would remove the indent here character, for instance, followed by a tab character, and so on. After a few tries, I realized that by using the remove options, my text was returned to its original form with one click instead of the many clicks it would take me to undo each line.
Depending on how you created the list, it may take two passes to complete the removal of all formatting. If any numbers are left after two passes, simply delete them by hand.
Remove bullets, numbers and move indent also removes the bullets and numbers but also moves the indents down a level. Zero left and right indents performs the same function for all selected paragraphs.

NOTE: Unlike word processors and web editors, ProBullets will not maintain your ordering as you delete or insert lines. Instead you will have to use the palette functions to first remove the formatting, then reapply.
ProBullets & Numbers is a QuarkXPress XTensions module available for QuarkXPress 6 and 7 for Mac or Windows. It's $49 when you buy it individually, or you can purchase ProPack, a bundle of 18 of GLUON's most popular products for $199.
