CopyFlow Gold extends the filters built into InDesign for import and export, this makes XML format support possible.

Once you have chosen your file format, click the appropriate button directly below to establish this format. Depending on the format you choose, you will generate one single file with all text, or a series of files.

To proceed to the actual export, you must first name the frames. This can be either a manual or an automatic process using the naming feature.

In addition to auto-naming features, there are other automatic features that CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS3: this product is script-able using InDesign scripts written in Javascript and there is a batch-processing feature.

Figure 14 Using the auto-naming feature, you can quickly and without any real effort name all boxes in your document. Obviously, this is especially useful for long document.

Using the auto-naming feature, names are assigned automatically to any frame that contains text. A series of linked text frames (a story) is named as a single item. The story names are established by adding consecutive numbers to the text that you typed into the story name prefix field in the CopyFlow Gold auto-name dialogue box.

Use the export button to initiate the export routine and you will prompt a typical destination dialogue box. Use this to define to where the text frames are exported. Depending upon the file format you have chosen, a single or a series of files will be exported. The appropriate file extension is appended to the frame name to produce an output file name (e.g., creativequadrant1.rtf). To preserve the frame names, thus facilitating round-tripping, be sure to save your document after you have either manually or automatically added names to the frames.
