X-Ray Magazine
Our publication is dedicated to the published word, and by proximity, those industries for which we now find ourselves being tasked to master: desktop-publishing, design, electronic-content creation, pre-press, and printing.
Like ThePowerXChange, publisher of X-Ray Magazine, our focus often leans toward the extensions, Plug-ins, and utilities used by our readers — or that we feel should be used. Within our pages, you will find stories on applications, and the extensible technology for applications, such as QuarkXPress®, InDesign®, Photoshop®, Illustrator®, Acrobat®, After Effects®, Director®, FreeHand®, PageMaker®, Painter®, Premiere®, Flash®, Quark Publishing System®, QuarkCopyDesk®, and QuarkXPress Server®.
X-Ray Magazine ranks high in search engines
The team behind X-Ray Magazine is a group of search-engine optimization specialists and we work diligently to hone those skills with each new posting. We post feature stories at least twice each week and with a new posting, we send a notice to our subscriber list of about 30,000. Depending on the topic, we may also arrange for a special notice to a partner's subscriber list, as we do with Quark, Inc..
As an example of this type of partner reach, we produce a weekly story specifically geared toward the QuarkXPress user — be that the print, pre-press, design, or desktop-publishing professional — and that notice is sent by Quark to their subscriber list.
With all of our stories, a posted article will typically reach the top four listings on page one of Google® in four days or less. When you advertise on one of our story pages, we get your ad in front of thousands of readers quickly — and we measure the success and provide you with those stats.
Our story topics range from tutorials to product reviews, and everything in between. In a newly added section, we post a highlight of daily news laden with links to relevant sites.
Ad types and sizes
As you will see throughout our site, there are several types of ads. There are column ads like those you see to the right of this text and various types of in-story ads. We do not have standard sizes — we have parameters. We have found that the reader can learn to ignore sizes and shapes that are oft-associated with a common ad size. So, while we will accept your 120 X 90 pixel ad, we suggest you take advantage of the opportunities we provide you to create new and interesting designs.
You may submit your ad as a JPG, GIF, or SWF. There is no surcharge for file size — within reason.
Ad pricing
All of our ad prices are factored with a very simple calculation:
pixel height + pixel depth X rate
e.g, an ad that is 230 pixel (W) + 90 pixel (H) = 320 X $1.50 (rate) = $480.
Premium placement, top of page
There is only one premium placement ad, as shown, in the upper-right corner of this page. The cost for this ad is $3 per H + W pixel total. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
Right-column ads, above the fold
Ads, such as those shown at the top of the column to the right and that start less than 300 pixels from the top of the page's live area, are $1.50 per H + W pixel total. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
Right-column ads, below the fold
Ads, such as those shown in the right column that start more than 300 pixels from the top of the page's live area, are $1.00 per H + W pixel total. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
Feature story with sidebar text links
Click here to see a sample page of a sidebar text links. This type of promotion is only possible when you have a product for which we can run either a feature story or product review — and this means that you must have a product or service in that we deem appropriate for our readership. Ads of this type are $1.75 per H + W pixel total and must accompany a printable story.
We seek diversity in our writing styles, so we encourage you to submit a story. If you do not have a story or the time to write one, we can make a recommendation. Any article published by X-Ray Magazine, becomes the property of X-Ray Magazine. Click here to view our submission contract. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
In-story ads
Like the PhotoZoom Pro ad you see here, you may opt for any pixel size up to 275 pixels (W) X 175 pixels (H). Here again, we encourage you to use different and odd sizes as well as odd shapes. Ads of this type are $1.50 per H + W pixel total.
Your ad will be placed randomly in newly posted stories at the discretion of the page designer. If you prefer to choose the story placement (not placement within the story), go to the next session. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
Relevant in-story ads
Relevant in-story ads, similar to the in-story ads described above, offer you the added benefit of placing your ad within relevant text. This is not always possible, of course, given the focus of our publication, but when possible, this ad type can provide you an additional boost in interest and search-engine optimization. For each relevant placement, add $50. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
Relevant-text ads
|
A good stand-alone choice, or better yet, in combination with a relevant in-story ad described above, a relevant-text ad provides for maximum search-engine optimization because the text of your ad is relevant to the text of the story.
This relevant-text ad for Sterling Ledet training, is placed in stories where a reader might be looking for additional training options. The size of this type of ad is limited to no more than 175 pixels (W) X 175 pixels (H) and incurs a $75 surcharge per placement. You may leave the story choices to our discretion, or you may choose your placement. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
Story-span ad
Story-span ads and story-closer ads are our only ad styles for which we dictate the exact width, but you may vary the height. For a two-column page like this one, the ad must be exactly 447 pixels (W), and no more than 120 pixels (H). We also have a one-column layout where the width of the ad must be exactly 700 pixels (W) and no more than 120 pixels in height. Keep in mind, should you choose a one-column placement that we do not use the one-column page style often, so placement opportunities will be severely limited. The cost of this ad is $3 per pixel depth. Email us if you need any information or have questions.
How often will your ad be seen?
Currently, we employ a static ad system. That means, once placed, your ad will remain in that position for the term of the placement. We do not offer guaranteed placement other than above the fold or below the fold.
